HOTSAM329 asked:
I have an old treadmill that finally died. Before I buy a new one, what’s the best way to get rid of the old one that’s big and heavy? It’s too big to fit in the trash bin and I don’t have a truck to haul it away?
I live in a condo community that does not allow members to leave junk in the front of the houses. Also if disassembled, some of the pieces would be pretty big.

put it out on the roadside someone will pick it up!
could you advertise it in the newspaper under free section??
offer it on freecycle.com, someone will want it.
list it on ebay. someone will buy it
Take it apart, most of it is recyclable (rubber, metal) the electronic portion can usually be dismantled and tossed.
Some cities have clean-up week where you’re allowed to put stuff like that out on the curb. See if any of your friends/family lives in such a place and rent a truck for a couple hours to being it there.
There are businesses that do that kind of thing, disposing of bulky items. Check the yellow pages for rubbish or junk removal. If you can hang on for long enough, put it out on the road for the next inorganic rubbish collection.
Call any of your local charities or the Salvation Army. They often pick up any donated goods to salvage the parts or sell, and the money goes to charity.
Here in Canada we have a thrift store chain (Value Village) that picks up anything and everything, and donates part of the profits for diabetes research and services. It helps kids with Type 1 diabetes (the severe non-preventable, non-obesity related kind that always requires insulin injections) go to summer camps.
put it in your driveway or on the side of the street and put a sign on it that says FREE and I bet you somebody will come by and get it thinking they got a good deal until they get it home and plug it up, but it will be out of your hair
call salvation army and ask them if they want it,
Find the FreeCycle group in your area. Post an “OFFER: ” message. Be sure to state if it does/does not work. People will e-mail you that they want it and will come and get it. You select one and set-up pickup date/time. After they get the item, you post a “TAKEN: ” message. Very Easy. Very Simple.
