turdbanger4000 asked:

I would use a treadmill, but they hurt my knees badly. What I’m looking for is what I should start out with, and what I can do to progressively get better, as well as some eating tips since I’m living in a dormitory at college (I try to eat as healthy as possible, but that’s incredibly difficult at the dining halls). I’m currently 6′1″ and 200 pounds. I’ve been meaning to build stamina so I would have an easier time losing weight.

Right now, I’ve been doing about a 7/10 on the intensity scale for about 20-30 minutes per day. One thing that I’m kind of concerned with, is that my heart rate gets around 190 at some points. I’ve heard of runners doing HIIT, but I’m not too sure how well that would go on an Elliptical or Stair Climber.

If you need anymore information on myself or what I have been doing, post that in your question and I will add it.

One Response to “What would be a good way to build my stamina on an elliptical machine or a stair climber?”

Interval training is great for building stamina/ endurance. I personally hate treadmills. I used to run for my university, and have since developed an aversion to running. Stair climbers are brilliant, low impact and you get a great cardio, and you build muscle on your legs, which will help you burn fat. Info from article below.
