Exercises Treadmill

We were given a treadmill and would love to use it. However, even walking on it, the pounding shakes our entire apartment, not to mention running! I’m sure it’s really annoying to the downstairs neighbors. Is there a good way to make it quieter? We were thinking of putting some plywood and rubber matting underneath to spread the impact and absorb some concussion. Any other tips?! Thanks

I love to jog on the treadmill I have at my house. Right now I’m jogging at 5mph for 60minutes (1 hour) with 0 incline, and I’m hoping on working my way up to 7mph for 30minutes in the upcoming months. I wanted an idea of how fast people normally jog/run on a treadmill and for how long, so I can determine how realistic my goal is.
