treadmill
hoyboy asked:

I currently bought a treadmill and the best place to put it is on the second floor of my house. I’m just not sure if I set it up there, if when I am running on it, if it will cause everything to shake, or if the deck will absorb most of the shock!

Don’t do it, it will cause the area to squeak and if the house is really 30+ you could crack it slowly until you fall through!!!! Just put it in the basement!

They sell mats that go underneath the treadmill to protect the floor. You should try searching the web for some.

Anyway, I don’t think it will be a big problem. I have a treadmill and I live on the 2nd floor of a huge house that was turned into an apartment complex. The house is more than 100 years old and it’s even part of a historical district, so you just imagine the way it’s built… Besides modern plumbing and electricity, the floors squeak and i can sometimes hear my neighbors sneeze and even fart… Anyhow I run 4-8 miles a day and this has been for years. I have never once felt like the ground was shaking or never heard a complaint from the down stair’s neighbor, who isn’t shy about banging on my door or calling my cellphone to put the music down.

Here’s something I saw on ebay to give you an idea -

I am in no way connected to that seller or item, I’m posting this merely as an example of what you might look for…
